The Prince of Egypt description
About The Prince of Egypt
The 1998 animated movie version of The Prince of Egypt, by DreamWorks, was a huge hit. Now there's a musical theatre version featuring the lovely Academy Award winning tune, 'When You Believe'. The tunes and lyrics are by Stephen Schwartz, the three-time Academy Award winner who thrilled us with his work on Wicked, and there's a book by Philip LaZebnik, of Mulan and Pocahontas fame. Epic emotion, soaring show tunes, this one's got everything.
What's the story of The Prince of Egypt?
The story? Welcome to Ancient Egypt where two young men, Moses and his adopted brother Rameses, the heir to the throne of Egypt, live. Raised as brothers by rich parents the boys are divided by a secret. One of them will eventually become the Pharaoh, the leader, the king. But the other believes it's his job to help the country's enslaved people rise up and free themselves. As you can imagine, their very different outlooks dramatically change the world they live in.
