Falling deeply in love with the cinema, the movies inspired him to imagine a very different life beyond the grey boredom of 1960s Ireland. Once he discovered the theatre, and a friend suggested he join an amateur dramatics group, everything changed. A varied forty year career followed, complete with addiction issues and problems handling global fame.

The result is a lush recollection of childhood, leading to tough-to-handle insights into the down-sides of Hollywood and Broadway stardom.
