A Man For All Seasons description
The tour broke records. Now Theatre Royal Bath’s dazzling production of Robert Bolt’s A Man For All Seasons, first staged in 1960, is in the West End. Martin Shaw (Hobson’s Choice, The Best Man, and Twelve Angry Men) takes the starring role as one of England's most powerful and dangerous men, Sir Thomas More, and the drama is directed by Jonathan Church. The remainder of the cast includes Gary Wilmot, Edward Bennett, Abigail Cruttenden, Nicholas Day, Calum Finlay, Asif Khan, Hari Kang, Sam Parks, Louisa Sexton, Timothy Watson and Orlando James.
Thomas More was a scholar, Catholic, family man, ambassador, Lord Chancellor and close friend of the mercurial King Henry 8th. When Henry decides to divorce Catherine of Aragon and marry Anne Boleyn, Thomas is forced to choose between the desires of the royal family and his conscience – and his ultimate act of defiance sees him pay a terrifying price. Running for just 38 performances, this classic treat is not to be missed.
