Bad Jews premiered in 2012 in New York. It was an instant smash. It enjoyed a run of four-star reviews back in 2014 and 2015 in the West End, described as a ‘ferocious’ play. It’s also completely hilarious. Now it’s due to take to the stage once more, this time at the Arts Theatre for 11 weeks, from Thursday 14th July to Sunday 25th September.
What's the story of Bad Jews?
A beloved grandfather dies in New York and the family gathers before the funeral. He has left a treasured piece of religious jewellery that he hid from the Nazis during the Holocaust, during his two years in Auschwitz. The cousins Liam and Daphne soon start fighting over the chai necklace, but the argument doesn’t stop there. It quickly expands to cover the quality of their religious faith, the depth of their cultural assimilation, and the validity of their relationships. Who are the bad jews?
