BalletBoyz - Six Lethargies description
About the Show
Six Lethargies is a new dance work by BalletBoyz, set to Keaton Henson's composition for string orchestra of the same name. Henson's score asks "if I write how it feels to me, will you feel it too?", and the production answers through movement, following a journey through six emotional landscapes that explores how trauma, memory, anxiety and empathy live in the body and the mind.
The piece is a world premiere at Sadler's Wells, created for the company's 25th year. A live 37-piece string orchestra plays on stage alongside a large company of dancers, and the performance runs for 70 minutes without an interval.
Cast and Creatives
BalletBoyz founders Michael Nunn and William Trevitt, Sadler's Wells Associate Artists since 2005, direct the production. The choreography is by Iván Pérez, a former Nederlands Dans Theater dancer who created BalletBoyz' Young Men, and Seirian Griffiths, a dancer, choreographer and musician. Henson, who has released six studio albums, is a long-time collaborator of the company. Costumes are by Elisa Mozzanica and lighting is by Andrew Ellis.
The dancers are led by Joshua Attwood, Dan Baines, Alex de la Bastide, Paris Fitzpatrick, Dylan Jones, Elisabet Liisu Cerenius, Faye Tan and Kai Tomioka.
Why You Should Watch It
With live strings and a large company on stage, Six Lethargies turns Henson's music into a dance work about emotion and recovery. Book your tickets now.
