Cinderella (La Cenerentola) description

Set in contemporary London, Cinderella is a thrilling new version of the beloved fairytale. Welcome to a dazzling new re-imagining of Gioachino Rossini’s romantic opera classic, produced with a twist. The story? It is tough having to spend all your time running after your spoiled step-sisters, especially when you're dreaming of being loved for yourself, for the woman you are. When Cinders comes across handsome Prince Don Ramiro, and he is charmed by her warmth and courage, it feels like 'happily ever after' is finally about to happen.

Our heroine Angelina is played by mezzo-soprano Deepa Johnny, and Don Ramiro is played by tenor Aaron Godfrey-Mayes, both enjoying their ENO debut. Charles Rice plays Don Ramiro's valet Dandini, Simon Bailey plays Angelina’s stepfather Don Magnifico, and the ex-Harewood Artist David Ireland plays Alidoro. The fun is directed by International Opera Award-nominated director Julia Burbach and conducted by Yi-Chen Lin. Fairy dust, pumpkins, mice, a glass slipper and a dress fit for a princess meet Rossini's timelessly pretty score to create a beautiful, fresh comedy you'll remember for months to come.
