Dark of the Moon description
Welcome to the Appalachians, a mysterious region of eastern North America. Barbara Allen is a human girl and John is a strange witch-boy. When they start to fall in love they're forced to defy their communities' prejudices to build a life together. But when their profoundly different worlds clash, the consequences are extraordinary. Directed by Georgie Rankcom (The Frogs), the creative team includes choreographer Jane McMurtrie, musical supervisor Brad Haak, musical director Matt Herbert, orchestrator Dillon Kondor, production designer Libby Todd, lighting designer Jonathan Chan, and sound designer Andrew Johnson. The casting director is Peter Noden.
In this charming rural Appalachian town the mystical world of witches and warlocks is never far from the surface, and the looming Smoky Mountains overlook everything. Can love conquer all or will the deal made by the sinister dark of the moon foil the couple's plans? Come and see this extraordinary new musical, in London for its world premiere. The plot is based on a 1941 play by Howard D Richardson and William Berney. The book comes from Emmy Award nominee Jonathan Prince, who gave us American Dreams, and there's a superb original sound track covering country music, bluegrass and rock, written by three Grammy-winning songwriters: Lindy Robbins, Dave Bassett and Steve Robson. The perfect West End musical when you're in the market for something absolutely unique.
