Death Note The Musical description

Light Yagami is a bright but dissatisfied high school student in Tokyo who comes across a notebook dropped by Ryuk, a god of death. Anyone whose name is written in its pages will die. Light begins using the Death Note to eliminate the world's criminals, appointing himself the judge of a new moral order. As the unexplained deaths multiply, the authorities call in a reclusive genius detective known only as L, and the two are drawn into a tense battle of wits as each tries to expose the other before he himself is caught.

Death Note The Musical is based on the best-selling Japanese manga by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata and was named Best Musical at the Korea Musical Awards. The score is by Frank Wildhorn, composer of Jekyll & Hyde, Dracula and Bonnie & Clyde, with lyrics by Jack Murphy and a book by Ivan Menchell. This new London production, which opens at the Barbican Theatre on 30 July 2026, is directed by Stephen Whitson, with choreography by Olivier Award winner Fabian Aloise. It is led by Xander Pang as Light and Colin Ryan as L, with Telly Leung as Ryuk, Stephanie Zaharis as Misa Amane and Grace Mouat as Rem.
