Mozart's score, written in collaboration with Lorenzo da Ponte, wraps this dark tale in music of irresistible beauty and dramatic urgency.

Director Kasper Holten — whose tenure as Director of Opera at the Royal Opera House produced some of the most talked-about productions of recent years — brings a theatrical vision of rare clarity and power to this staging. A former director of the Royal Danish Opera, Holten is recognised internationally for his ability to reveal new depths in operatic classics.
