A thirty-six-year-old stand-up comedian, chronically single and professionally anxious, finally meets someone who might be his Mr Right. Convinced that disaster is always waiting around the corner, he responds to the possibility of happiness by doing almost everything wrong. Feeling Afraid As If Something Terrible Is Going To Happen is a single, fast-moving monologue about desire, intimacy and self-sabotage.

First seen at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the play won a Fringe First Award before going on to sold-out runs, an international tour and a US premiere at Studio Theatre in Washington DC. The Evening Standard gave it four stars, calling it "fast, filthy and surprisingly revealing", and The Guardian, also four stars, praised "a compelling and troubling character study with some killer punchlines".

Cast and Creatives

The play is written by Marcelo Dos Santos, whose other stage work includes Backstairs Billy, and directed by Matthew Xia. It is produced by the Olivier Award-winning team behind Fleabag and Baby Reindeer.

This London run stars Steven Webb, whose theatre credits include Shucked, The Book of Mormon and The History Boys.
