The Jungle Book description
In 1967, Disney's The Jungle Book animated movie was released. Everybody loved it, and it quickly became a classic thanks to the wonderful characters, inspiring story, and sing-along tunes. Now it's back, reimagined for the twenty first century with awe inspiring puppetry and a large cast of seriously talented humans on board. Anupama Chandrasekhar (The Father and the Assassin) is at the heart of this fresh adaptation, directed by Indhu Rubasingham. The puppets are created by Lume's Finn Caldwell and Nick Barnes, and the fun takes to the stage at one of the capital's most prestigious venues, the National Theatre's Olivier Theatre.
Human child Mowgli lives with his animal family and friends in the deep mangrove jungles of the river Ganges delta. But it isn't always a safe and welcoming place. It's also very dangerous. Can Mowgli figure out who he is and where he belongs in time to protect his beloved friends? Hiran Abeysekera plays Mowgli in an impressive cast including Sarah Amankwah, Darcy Braimoh, Sebastian Charles, Laura Cubitt, Fred Davis, Ayesha Dharker, Ali Goldsmith, Romina Hytten, Tony Jayawardena, Avye Leventis, Kel Matsena, Sifiso Mazibuko and Jordan Metcalfe.
The creative team is just as impressive, so don't miss out on this gorgeous family treat!
