Romeo and Juliet description
It's Shakespeare's classic tragedy Romeo & Juliet, but not as we know it. Sadie Sink and Noah Jupe star in Robert Icke's gorgeous production, a critically acclaimed version by a respected, Olivier Award-winning director. Sadie Sink (TV's Stranger Things, John Proctor is the Villain) enjoys her West End debut as Juliet, while Noah Jupe (TV's Night Manager series 2, Chloé Zhao's movie adaptation of Hamnet) plays Romeo, on his West End stage debut. Rest assured, this old story is just as powerful as ever.
Romeo and Juliet, whose families hate each other, fall in love. Thanks to a series of misunderstandings and mistakes, their passion ends in tragedy, exploring timeless themes of grief and revenge. The staging adds to the tension as a digital clock counts down time as the lovers' tragic fate edges closer, along with clever 'sliding door' moments to alternative scenarios. There's set and costume design by Hildegard Bechtler, lighting design by Jon Clark, sound design by Tom Gibbons, and video design by Ash J. Woodward. The casting is by Julia Horan and Jim Carnahan, and the play's producers are Empire Street Productions (Prima Facie, Slave Play, Self Esteem – A Complicated Woman, Elektra). Unforgettable!
