Have you seen the 1952 movie musical, Singin' in the Rain starring Debbie Reynolds, Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor? It's a classic, an icon, a legend... and this is the latest stage production of a story that never grows old. If you're after a West End musical to remember, this one's for you. The action is set in Hollywood at the time when silent movies were giving way to the 'talkies', films with sound. We meet Don Lockwood, a silent film star, his on-screen partner Lina Lamont, and the aspiring actor Kathy Selden. It's funny, fun and packed with gorgeous show tunes, a captivating love story set at the very moment when silent films died.
This is Andrew Wright's acclaimed version, complete with more than fourteen thousand litres of water raining down on the stage for the final scene, a sight to remember. Beloved tunes including Good Morning, Make 'em Laugh, Moses Supposes, and Singin' in the Rain itself accompany the plot, and there's an excellent creative team on board including Director Jonathan Church, Choreographers Andrew Wright and Jayne Elster, Set and Costume Designer Simon Higlett, Lighting Designer Tim Mitchell, Sound Designer Gareth Owen and Video Designer Ian Galloway.
