Tao Of Glass description

Take the composer Philip Glass. Add his long-time collaborator, Phelim McDermott, and set the piece in a wonderfully intimate venue. Tao of Glass is part-performance, part-concert. The music is brand new, and the stories it tells are rich in ancient wisdom. This complicated blend of sound and story is simply mesmerising, performed by performer-director Phelim McDermott, who is joined by a group of world-class musicians and puppeteers. Exploring one of life's biggest questions, ten different meditative stories set to new music take us on an adventure into life, loss, and humanity's search for inspiration. Taoist insight sits at the heart of it all to create a uniquely beautiful storytelling experience.

A critically acclaimed world premiere at Manchester International Festival leads the way for this brilliant dream-inspired show. If you loved the pair's former collaborations, including the multi-award-winning record-breaking production My Neighbour Totoro, this one's for you. The Co-Director is Kirsty Housley. The Designer is Fly Davis, the Lighting Designer is Colin Grenfell, and the Sound Designer is Giles Thomas. Musical Direction by Chris Vatalaro and Puppet Designer and Puppet Maker Lyndie Wright complete the creative team. Unique, dreamy, memorable.
