The Cherry Orchard description

Take one of the world's best-respected playwrights, Anton Chekhov. Add a generous dash of Kristen Scott Thomas, a highly skilled actor to reckon with. Bring a scattering of top class West End creativity into the mix, and what do you get? It's The Cherry Orchard, and it promises sheer theatre magic from start to finish. The playwright's final classic remains as popular as ever, exploring themes of class, memories, and the end of an old way of life with bittersweet humour. This is a tragi-comedy you won't want to miss.

What'll happen to Lyubov Ranevskaya, who returns home to find the posh estate she grew up on is for sale, including the cherry orchard she loves? The old loyalties don't matter much any more. New ambitions are the name of the game. As her privileged world starts to break down, she struggles with love, loss, and letting go. On stage at the West End's Harold Pinter Theatre for a strictly limited season, the play has been adapted by Conor McPherson (The Weir, Girl From the North Country), with direction from Ian Rickson (Jerusalem). The producers are Sonia Friedman, who gave us Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. If you loved Scott Thomas in The Seagull, Electra, and Betrayal, this one's for you.
