The Story description
The Story is in town, described as a gripping thriller and based on true events. The play explores the risks behind revealing something that some people would rather forget. It follows four ambitious journalists as they fight to reveal a story about a white teacher murdered in a black neighbourhood. The Olivier Theatre is the perfect setting for this dark drama, the biggest venue at the National Theatre complex with a fan-shaped auditorium seating 1100 on two levels. Set Design is by Anna Fleischle, Costume Design by Natalie Pryce, Lighting Design by Paul Anderson, and Sound Design by Benjamin Grant. The Video Design comes from Gino Ricardo Green and Tal Yarden.
Directed by Clint Dyer, the production stars Letitia Wright (Black Panther) on her National Theatre debut, along with a large and talented cast: Aliyah Odoffin (All My Sons), Wilf Scolding (Andor), Ashley Thomas (Hostage, Top Boy), Lorraine Toussaint (TV's Orange Is the New Black), Unique Spencer (Top Boy), Jay Simpson (Black Mirror), Antonia Bernath (Downton Abbey), Tee Arnold, Donna Augustin, and Linseigh Green. Expect a searing thriller exploring themes of truth, fake news, and who ultimately owns a story, played with passion to create an unforgettable theatre experience.
