It's a brilliantly funny Gilbert & Sullivan double bill! The English National Opera has combined two operettas by Arthur Sullivan, Trial by Jury and The Zoo, on stage at the London Coliseum to create one hilarious socio-political satire set to gorgeous music. The Zoo, by Arthur Sullivan and Bolton Rowe, enjoys its ENO debut with a plot following two lovers whose secrets, lies and mischief-making embroil them in mistaken identity. In Trial by Jury, by Arthur Sullivan and W.S. Gilbert, the original plot is reimagined as a TV game show where Edwin is accused of breaking a promise to the fiancee he jilted.

Directed by Gilbert and Sullivan specialist John Savournin, the cast includes Neal Davies (HMS Pinafore) as The Learned Judge, Mary Bevan as The Plaintiff Angelina / Laetitia Grinder in The Zoo, Robert Murray as Edwin, ex-Harewood singer Madeleine Shaw as Eliza Smith and Harewood singer Alaric Green as the Usher. The operettas are both sung in English, with surtitles projected above the stage so everyone can understand what's happening. A superb introduction to the world of opera, you can expect a lot of laughter and fun.
