Twelfth Night (Barbican) description
Buy Twelfth Night tickets and laugh your way through a top-quality Shakespeare comedy, a critically acclaimed production on stage at The Barbican for just six weeks. Fresh in town after a sell-out run in Stratford-upon-Avon, the magic is yours courtesy of the Royal Shakespeare Company. When their ship is wrecked, Viola is separated from her twin brother Sebastian. Dressing up as a boy and changing her name to Cesario, she becomes a servant to Duke Orsino. The Duke is in love with Countess Olivia. He sends Cesario to woo his darling on his behalf, but the countess falls in love with 'him'. Olivia’s uncle Toby, drunk as a skunk with his dodgy friend Sir Andrew Aguecheek, pranks Olivia's steward Malvolio. Then Sebastian turns up and the whole thing descends into even more chaos. Hilarious!
Samuel West plays Malvolio, Freema Agyeman is Olivia, and Michael Grady-Hall plays Feste. The Director is Prasanna Puwanarajah. James Cotterill is Set and Costume Designer. Zoe Spurr and Bethany Gupwell are the Lighting Designers. The Composer is Matt Maltese. Sound Designer George Dennis joins Movement Director Polly Bennett, Casting Director Matthew Dewsbury CDG, and Music Director Lindsey Miller to complete the creative team, with Zac Gvi as Arranger and Additional Music provider.
