Born With Teeth description
The Royal Shakespeare Company's Co-Artistic Director Daniel Evans directs Ncuti Gatwa (Doctor Who, Sex Education) and Edward Bluemel (Killing Eve, My Lady Jane) in a thrilling two-hander play starring William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe. Ncuti plays Kit Marlowe and Blumel plays Shakespeare, thrown together in 1591 to co-write a dangerous play cycle. England is a viper's nest of paranoia and conspiracy at the time, the old queen is dying, spies are hiding around every corner, and one wrong step could see both men executed.
Forced into a creative union in the back room of a London pub, their battlefield is a table and their weapons are words. Three secret meetings ensue as the men duel with concepts and ideas. There's a deadline to meet, and they're never going to hit it if they keep on arguing. Critically acclaimed Born With Teeth is written by American playwright Liz Duffy Adams, and this is the UK premiere. The drama is co-produced by the RSC and Playful Productions, with design by Joanna Scotcher, lighting design by Neil Austin, and casting by Charlotte Sutton.
