About the Show

The Cornley Amateur Dramatic Society have picked A Christmas Carol for their festive production and are attempting it at full scale: flying sequences, a revolving set, a company of ghosts and a leading man who means to be definitive. The scenery collapses, the effects misfire, lines go missing and actors will not leave the stage, and the disasters compound one another until nothing is left standing.

The show comes from Mischief, whose The Play That Goes Wrong won the Olivier Award for Best New Comedy and has run in the West End for over a decade. This one started as a BBC television special before being rebuilt for the stage, and returns for a limited festive season alongside an international tour.

Cast and Creatives

It is written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields, the three founding members of Mischief and the authors of The Play That Goes Wrong, and directed by Matt DiCarlo.

Casting for this run is still to be announced. The Goes Wrong shows depend on precise ensemble timing rather than individual star billing, with each performer playing a member of Cornley who is in turn playing a character from Dickens.
