Cyrano de Bergerac description
The Olivier-winning Adrian Lester (Henry V, The Lehman Trilogy, The Sandman, Hustle) leads the cast in a fresh new production of Cyrano de Bergerac, on stage at the Noel Coward Theatre. Originally written by Edmond Rostand, this adaptation is by Simon Evans (Inside No. 9: Stage/Fright), who also directs, and Debris Stevenson. The Ian Charleson Award-winning Susannah Fielding (A Midsummer Night's Dream, Here We Go, The Cleaner) plays Cyrano's beloved Roxanne in this gorgeous story of love, longing, lies and disguise.
The soldier, poet and philosopher Cyrano de Bergerac is a romantic, funny, brilliant man but his confidence is marred by an absolutely enormous nose. He adores the bold and beautiful Roxanne, who he watches helplessly as she falls head over heels with Christian. Then Christian, who is unable to charm Roxanne with words, turns to Cyrano to help him seduce her. The Set and Costume Designer is Grace Smart, the Lighting Designer is Joshie Harriette and the Composer is Alex Baranowski. The Sound Designer Donato Wharton is joined by Movement Director Sarita Piotrowski, Fight and Intimacy Director Bethan Clark and Casting Director Matthew Dewsbury CDG to create a magical version of this hugely popular tale inspired by the real-life fifteenth century writer Savinien de Cyrano de Bergerac.
