Dracula description

Take one Emmy, Tony, and Grammy Award-winning actor, Cynthia Erivo, who delighted us in Wicked, Harriet, Genius: Aretha, The Colour Purple and more. Add history's best-loved, most feared horror story, Bram Stoker's Dracula. Then stir in the Tony Award-winning Kip Williams from the Sydney Theatre Company, a man whose unique style of cine-theatre never fails to intrigue. The result is a fresh, genre-defying one-woman take on the classic horror novel, both immersive and electrifying. Erivo stars, playing all 23 parts herself. The scene is London, where the ancient vampire Dracula wreaks madness and horror, told via pre-recorded film, live video and theatre.

Bram Stoker's Dracula has been given a seductive new face as the story of mysterious Count Dracula, who is hell bent on going to London to find new blood, unfolds. Erivo portrays the victim Lucy, the famous vampire hunter Van Helsing, Count Dracula himself – or should that be herself? - and every other character in a brilliant re-telling of the spine-tingling classic, this time around created by Designer Marg Horwell, Lighting Designer Nick Schlieper, Composer Clemence Williams, Sound Designer Jessica Dunn, Video Designer Craig Wilkinson and Dramaturg Zahra Newman. Be scared. Be very scared.
