About the Show
Peggy is recently divorced and adrift when she runs into Lou, her best friend from school, at a local slimming club. The reunion stirs up memories of their teenage years, and the next morning Peggy wakes to find herself fourteen years old again. Given a second look at her own past, she has to work out which of her mistakes are worth putting right and which made her who she is.
Fourteen Again is a new musical rather than a revival, built around the songs of Victoria Wood and named after one of her best-known numbers. It had its world premiere in spring 2026 at the Victoria Wood Theatre in Bowness-on-Windermere, the venue renamed in her honour, and opens at the Menier Chocolate Factory on 2 December 2026. The running time is two hours including a 20-minute interval, with an age guidance of 14+. Musical Theatre Review gave the premiere five stars and called it "a divinely entertaining and heartwarming show".
Cast and Creatives
The music and lyrics are by Victoria Wood and the book is by Tom MacRae, who wrote the book and co-wrote the lyrics for Everybody's Talking About Jamie. Jonathan O'Boyle directs, with musical supervision, arrangements and co-orchestrations by Nigel Lilley and choreography by Sammy Murray. Set design is by Roger Glossop, costume by Caroline Hughes, lighting by Jason Taylor and sound by Sam Glossop, with Archie McMorran as musical director and co-orchestrator.
Ria Jones plays Lou and Sally Ann Triplett plays Peggy, both reprising the roles they created at the world premiere. Triplett originated the role of Miss Berta in the West End production of Acorn Antiques: The Musical!, and Jones appeared in Wood's The Angina Monologues and has played Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard in the West End.
