Gerry and Sewell description
Howay the lads! Gerry & Sewell is in London for a two week West End run, a big achievement for a story that kicked off in a 60 seat pub theatre up north. The plot is based on Jonathan Tulloch's novel The Season Ticket, itself the subject of the cult movie Purely Belter. Olivier Award-winner Jamie Eastlake has crafted a brand new adaptation to delight audiences, and the show is in town after a sell-out season in the North East of England. Expect a feast of live music, weird dog puppets, Wor Flags and celebrity cameos, blended into a heart-warming, hilarious story making a tribute to the black-and-whites. This one's for the Toon.
You'll meet Gerry and Sewell, who live in Gateshead, on the River Tyne's south bank. They're broke but they have big dreams. Determined to get a season ticket to their beloved football club, the men decide they'll do whatever it takes to realise their dream, setting off on a mission to make it so. It stars the brilliant original cast members Dean Logan as Gerry, Jack Robertson as Sewell and Becky Clayburn as Tyneside, with Erin Mullen as Bridget. Jamie Eastlake directs. The Music is by Aidan Tulloch and the Sets by Richard, Rosie and Joe Power. If you're in it for a laugh, this is your perfect West End choice.
