Hay Fever description
Love a classic slice of vintage comedy? Noël Coward's uber-witty, sharp tongued comedy of bad manners, Hay Fever, introduces us to the awful Bliss family, who are holding court for the weekend at their posh country house. The decade is the 1920s, the guests are in for a shocking experience, and this comedy classic – which has seldom been off stage since first produced in 1925 - never grows old. More than a century later, it is just as funny. No wonder tickets for the revival are predicted to sell fast.
Christine Baranski (The Gilded Age and The Good Fight) makes her West End debut, and the legendary Richard E. Grant also stars in this dazzling revival of Coward's all-time classic comedy. Judith Bliss, played by Baranski, is a retired actress and infamous attention-seeker who misses being in the limelight. She invites a young admirer to her home for the weekend. Her novelist husband David is equally self-absorbed, as are their kids, Sorel and Simon, and they've also invited totally unsuitable guests of their own. The visitors are quickly trapped in a horror story of weird flirting, dramatic feuds and wild emotional outbursts that spiral into chaos. Hilarious.
