Into The Woods description
About the Show
A childless Baker and his Wife are told by the Witch next door that a curse on their family can be lifted only if they bring her four items within three days. Their search sends them into the woods, where they meet Cinderella, Jack, Little Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel, each chasing a wish of their own. The first act ends with everyone getting what they asked for. The second act follows the consequences.
This production began at the Bridge Theatre and won the 2026 Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival, together with a further Olivier for lighting design. The score includes Children Will Listen, No One Is Alone and Agony.
Cast and Creatives
Music and lyrics are by Stephen Sondheim, also the composer of Sweeney Todd and Company, with a book by James Lapine, who wrote and directed the 1987 Broadway premiere. Jordan Fein directs this revival, with design by Tom Scutt.
Kate Fleetwood, Olivier-nominated for this role and Tony-nominated as Lady Macbeth, returns as the Witch. John Dagleish, an Olivier winner for Sunny Afternoon, plays the Baker, with Laura Pitt-Pulford as the Baker's Wife, Simbi Akande as Cinderella and Keith Ramsay as Jack.
