Jo: The Little Women Musical in Concert description
Have you read the novel? Little Women is an American classic by Louisa May Alcott, published in 1868 and now a significant work of American literature. It explores timeless themes of family, gender roles, and individual identity, praised as a realistic portrayal of life during the USA's Civil War. It has been made into numerous films and stage productions. This time around, Jo The Little Women Musical reimagines the story of the passionate young writer, Jo March. A premiere of the semi-staged concert that has delighted audiences in the USA, there's a contemporary twist that brings the story up to date.
After her sister Beth dies, Jo develops ambitions to become the voice of her generation. Her struggles highlight the universal battle to claim our own voice and fulfil our own purpose, exploring Jo's love, loss, and sisterhood along the way. The cast includes Christine Allado as Jo March, Laura Benanti as Marmee March, Julian Ovenden as Father, and Kelly Mathieson as Professor Bhaer. The musical features music by Dan Redfeld, with book and lyrics from Christina Harding and John Gabriel Koladziej. It's directed by JoAnn M. Hunter, and we predict it'll sell like hot cakes!
