Written for TV in 1985 by William Nicholson (Gladiator), his 1989 stage adaptation won the Evening Standard's Best Play Award, then a Tony on Broadway. The 1993 movie starring Anthony Hopkins and Debra Winger was nominated for an Oscar and won a BAFTA. This brilliant production first delighted audiences at Chichester Festival Theatre in 2019.

In Oxford, University Don C. S. Lewis is about to take flight on a transformative love affair with US poet Joy Gresham. When they fall in love, he starts to question the beliefs he's held for a lifetime. Then Joy is diagnosed with terminal cancer. This is the story of their romance, a beautiful, tender, philosophical play about the incredible power of love. Directed by Rachel Kavanaugh (Half A Sixpence and Here & Now – The Steps Musical) with casting from Annelie Powell CDG, the producers are Jonathan Church Theatre Productions, Trafalgar Theatre Productions and Tilted. A sensitive story that resonates with everyone who sees it.
