The Notebook - The Musical description
About the Show
The Notebook is based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks. Allie and Noah meet as teenagers and fall in love, but they come from two different worlds, and family and circumstance pull them apart. Their story is told across a lifetime, following how their love endures through separation, change and old age.
This is the UK premiere of the musical, which was previously staged on Broadway, and the first production at the Judi Dench Theatre (currently the Shaftesbury Theatre). Previews begin on 10 March 2027. The Broadway cast recording was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, and the production arrives as the original novel marks 30 years since publication.
Cast and Creatives
Music and lyrics are by Ingrid Michaelson, an Emmy and Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter with nine studio albums, and the book is by Bekah Brunstetter, a writer on This Is Us who won a WGA Award for Maid. The production is directed by Michael Greif, a five-time Tony Award nominee for Rent, Grey Gardens, Next to Normal, Dear Evan Hansen and Hell's Kitchen, and Schele Williams, who directed the 2024 Broadway revival of The Wiz. Choreography is by Katie Spelman.
Casting for the London production is to be announced.
