The Tiger Who Came To Tea description
About The Tiger Who Came to Tea
The Tiger Who Came to Tea is a magical children's story, first published in 1968 and written and illustrated by Judith Kerr. More than 50 years after it was first published, the story is just as popular as ever. There was a TV adaptation on Channel 4 on Christmas Eve 2019, too, which revived even more interest. Welcome to one of the best-selling children's stories of all time.
What's the story of The Tiger Who Came to Tea?
This Olivier Award nominated smash hit is all about young Sophie, who is busy having tea with her mother in their kitchen when the doorbell rings. It's a tiger, and he's waiting at the door, so they let him in. The friendly tiger drinks all the tea then eats all the food in the house, even drinking every drop of water from the tap. When Sophie's father comes home from work he suggests they go out and have a meal in a cafe. Sophie and her mum go to the shops the next day and buy some tiger food along with their groceries, but the tiger never comes back. This is a gorgeous family show packed with magic, full of sing-a-long tunes and hilarious mayhem.
