Two Strangers (carry a cake across New York) description

About Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York)

Meet lovely Dougal, a Brit with a sunny nature, a positive outlook and an attitude most New Yorkers would call naive. He’s flying to New York to attend his father’s second wedding, the father he has never known. When he arrives at the airport he’s met by native New Yorker Robin, the bride’s sister. She’s brisk and impatient, late for work, and can’t spare any time for sightseeing.

It isn’t a case of love at first sight. But there’s a wedding, love is in the air, and this is New York. And as we all know, the Big Apple is where magic happens.

This refreshing new British musical comes from the crack musical writing team Jim Barne and Kit Buchan, directed by Tim Jackson. Jim Barne is a composer and orchestrator, half of musical theatre writing duo Buchan & Barne. He’s written music for film, theatre and chart music acts. Kit Buchan is a writer, lyricist and poet whose poems have appeared in Clinic, The White Review, Magma and The Best British Poetry. It’s a match made in heaven.

Described as ‘part "rom," two parts "com," with a splash of culture clash’, the show has been delighting audiences since the start. It transfers to the Criterion Theatre after a smash hit run at the Kiln Theatre.
