To Kill A Mockingbird description
To Kill a Mockingbird is set in Alabama in 1934, based on the novelist Harper Lee's childhood. A best-seller for almost a century, it has sold more than 45 million copies across the world so far. In sharp contrast, the book wasn't just a Pulitzer Prize for Literature winner. It also sat at the top of the 'banned books' lists for years. This production, which last appeared in London during 2022, is on stage for a strictly limited run, beautifully adapted by Oscar-winning writer Aaron Sorkin. A powerful story of racial injustice and moral courage unfolds through the eyes of Atticus's daughter Scout Finch, a classic whose appeal never fades.
Directed by Tony Award-winning Bartlett Sher, this is billed as a 'landmark production' blending thrilling drama with significant emotional depth. No wonder it is one of the decade's most celebrated plays. The plot takes place against the backdrop of the racist Deep South, a potent story of racial injustice in a small town where the principled, compassionate lawyer Atticus Finch is determined to drill down through layers of intolerance, fear and bigotry to find the truth. At the same time, his daughter Scout, on the brink of becoming an adult, brings new hope to the town. Richard Coyle (Player Kings, Macbeth, Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore) plays Atticus once more. The creative team includes Miriam Buether the Set Designer, Ann Roth the Costume Designer, and Jennifer Tipton the Lighting Designer, plus Scott Lehrer the Sound Designer. The original score comes from Adam Guettel, and the Casting Director is Serena Hill CDG. We recommend you grab tickets for this brilliant play before they sell out.
