Billy Elliot description
Billy Elliot the Musical is back in the West End for the first time in more than a decade, delighting fans and thrilling people who've always wanted to see the show in the capital. This is an emotional rollercoaster of a musical about a boy's journey from boxing to ballet, challenging the old norms, inspiring tolerance and bringing change. The story is set in a County Durham town during Thatcher's 1984-5 miners' strike, at a time when real men went down the mine and boys didn't dance. Billy Elliot quickly became a global smash, clearly a plot with an international appeal, and it is a joyous experience.
The original award-winning creative team is back to deliver magic. We have gritty, soaring, stunning music by Elton John, set to Book and lyrics from Lee Hall. Directed by Stephen Baldry (Stranger Things: The First Shadow), there's epic Choreography by Peter Darling, Scenic design by Ian MacNeil, Costume design by Nicky Gillibrand, Lighting design by Rick Fisher, Sound design by Paul Arditti and Musical supervision and orchestrations by Martin Koch. The Casting Director is Jessica Ronane. Explosive energy is the name of the game as old-school tradition gives way to happiness, heart, and hope. This long-awaited 2027 London revival is bound to draw massive crowds. We recommend you book early.
