About The Phantom of the Opera
The Phantom of the Opera is one of the world's best loved musicals with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart, and a book by Lloyd Webber and Richard Stilgoe. It's inspired by the amazing French novel of the same name from Gaston Leroux, with a plot starring the beautiful soprano, Christine Daaé. So far it has been experienced and loved by well in excess of 140 million people and has attracted more than 70 major theatre awards.
What's the story of The Phantom of the Opera?
When Christine becomes the focus of a disfigured musical genius' obsession - a strange ugly man living in the underground tunnels under the Paris Opéra House - sparks fly. The Phantom tutors her privately, demanding she's given the best roles while terrorising everyone else working at the opera house. When his beloved Christine falls in love with the theatre's rich benefactor Raoul, the Phantom is horrified at the thought of her absence and creates a plan to keep her by his side... forever.
