Henry 8th was a murderous, bullying, bloated horror who went through wives like a knife through butter. Luckily, revenge turns out to be super-sweet in Six, whose now-legendary premiere rocked the Edinburgh Fringe festival in 2017. A flurry of attention from producers followed, and it was back on stage again at the festival in 2018. Then it transferred to the Arts Theatre in London, and the rest is history. Expect an uplifting piece of musical theatre that lights up the West End, attracting critical acclaim every time. Prepare to lose your head over the story, the chart-hitting sound track and the six Tudor Queens, who've been turned into feisty, tough Pop Princesses. History gets remixed with a load of brilliant tunes including Ex-Wives, No Way, Don't Lose Your Head, Heart of Stone, I Don't Need Your Love and Six itself, the title tune. The musical is also a visual feast, stacked with sassy costumes. Jaz Robinson plays Catherine of Aragon, Hana Stewart is Jane Seymour, Caitlyn De Kuyper is Katherine Howard and Amelia Kinu Muus plays Catherine Parr. Thao Therese Nguyen plays Anne Boleyn and Dionne Ward-Anderson is Anne of Cleves. The all-female live band involves musical director Beth Jerem on keyboard, Alice Angliss on drums, Emma Jemima on the guitar, and Kelly Morris on the bass guitar.
